United Way of Essex and West Hudson in partnership with New Jersey Performing Arts Center is pleased to present The Cost of Violence: A Call to Action. This half-day symposium will engage participants in a discussion regarding the links between violence and public health, such as costs to the health care system (e.g., money, resources, stress) and costs to the community (e.g., anxiety, depression, emotional and physical wellbeing and future behaviors).
Included in the day will be a panel discussion, breakout sessions, and a call to action.
Panelists for the symposium will be: Paul Boxer, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychology, John (Jack) W. Farrell, LCSW, MSW, UMDNJ Violence Institute of New Jersey, Michael Greene, PhD, Consultant at Greene Consulting, Salaam Ismail, National Director of United Youth Council, INC and Rodger Mitchell, Jr., MD Assistant State Medical Examiner In-charge.
There is no charge to attend the event. Breakfast and lunch are included as part of the day’s activities.
