CENTER FOR EXCELLENCEThe mission of the Center For Excellence is to strengthen the capacity of funded and non-funded organizations through workshops to increase the impact of their work in Essex and West Hudson communities. Each workshop is limited to 20-25 participants. The workshops are designed to enable participants to deepen the knowledge in selected areas and to acquire practical tools that can be easily customized and implemented at their organizations. RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Presented by: ejIMPACT
Five (5) Consecutive Thursdays:
March 25th
April 8th April 15th April 22nd April 29th The United Way of Essex and West Hudson is offering a specialized Resource Development Certificate Program in conjunction with the nonprofit consultancy ejIMPACT. Program cost: $150 per person. Fee will cover the cost of one individual to attend all five sessions. This individual will receive 25 hours of interactive instructions from ejIMPACT, a light breakfast and lunch, and course materials will be provided at each session. The five day series will outline the following:
A comprehensive overview of ethics, basic terminology, and concepts. Various fundraising vehicles and strategies for balancing individual donor and institutional needs are surveyed. Relationship building, the solicitation process, psychological dynamics, and the realities of asking for money are examined. Introduction of a wide array of written formats, including mission statements, grants proposals, acknowledgement letters, and campaign appeal materials.
One of the most valuable and under-utilized resources in a non-profit organization is its board members. Learning to develop, manage, motivate and retain these critical resources is the focus of this class. Topics include recruitment, relationships between board and staff, dealing with non-contributing board members.
The management and life of a special event will be examined. Learn to identify appropriate events, signature events, develop campaigns; such as silent auctions and raffles; recruit, manage and motivate volunteers, plan budget and evaluate the event.
With a basic knowledge of direct mail processes you will be able to contribute to the success of the next annual and major gift campaign in your organization. Topics include: how to organize the campaign; designing and writing the piece; list development, mailing and evaluating the results. Managing volunteers, timelines and budgeting are also covered.
Learn how to build a target list of corporations, match corporations to existing programs, network through the board, volunteers, staff and corporate friends and develop the Sponsorship Package. And now the wrap-up...asking for a gift and closing the deal. And don't forget the follow-up and assessment.
Participants will not only take away a customized resource development document, but practical resource development materials for future reference. Contact mlassiter@uwewh.org if you have any questions. |
